Putting the new page together now. Will be up some time next week.
14-12-2005
The Ryans 2006 Calendar that The Ryans put together has an illustration done by me! All profits go to the Ryan's Hope Foundation which is fighting spinal muscular atrophy and purely coincidentally happens to
named after a Ryan. Anyways, it is $15 so check it out maybe!
Also, I'll definitely be back to doing comics regularly on the web come February. I'm going to start with a collection of short stories(6-30 or so pages each) and after that is going for a little while, get back into a larger project. Some of the comics(about 30 pages worth) are redrawings of the scribbled shorts I posted at Drunkduck, but most of the stuff is new. So hopefully you'll enjoy it.
Regarding the Acquisition of Hats: A children's story for children. Check it out on account of
Teppei(The violence salaryman) and Ribald Youth are done.
VIOLENCE SALARYMAN TEPPEI: A 168 page comic done in 168 hours. Check it out on account of Ribald Youth being over and everything!
also: got a fanart from a Shannon. The way she wrote Ribald Youth
is eerily similar to how I wrote it on the comic's title page years ago... but that never made it online. Wild.
26/07/2005 stuffs:
So! The comic is over! I thought about what I would say here, but there isn't too much to say, so... I hope you enjoyed reading it.
I did a few things as a bit of a farewell. One, is that I added commentary to the last page of(almost) call chapters that didn't have
any. A few months ago, someone sent me an email saying "hey I really liked the commentary in teh comic put it back in!" and I said "Ok, I totally will
at some point come summer!" ... then the comic ended before I did it, and I felt guilt and so... commentary! Also, some of you may remember from the commentary
how I mentioned that this comic was originally going to be a video game and that certain characters were from the game's plans and some characters from the game never made it into the comic... well, I made this page
which shows all of the characters planned for the game that were not actually included in the game. I figured it could be a little interesting maybe. At least, I had
fun remembering my plans from 4 years ago.
I'll be starting a new comic up before the year ends. Planning for starting it up in October. I posted some early pages in this topic which you
can glance at. In the meantime, I'll be messing around on drunkduck. As long as I've had this comic online, I'd occasionally throw a random comic up on drunkduck
every few months just to get away from only focusing on Ribald Youth, and this is the most recent one.I'm also planning on redoing the earlier pages of the comic and then putting Ribald Youth out in book form...but that
won't happen for a while...and that's it... I guess? Thanks for reading? If you haven't read the comic yet then enjoy?
08/02/2005
Pages are up now.I don't like them! You will though. Or not. The comic I did for
Monica Furious is still going too. Enjoy?

24/01/2005
New chapter today. I decided I didn't want a cover for this one, so there are four pages in todays update. I still needed to change the cover image on this index page though, so I asked my roommate to do one for me... and he did! Also, also I drew another pic last week. Also... waitthat'sit. Enjoy?
|
17/01/2005
It's monday afternoon as I type this, and what is up? THE PAGES. That's right. I am ALWAYS a man of my word, sometimes.Ok,the chapters over.Still a bit more dodgeball to come though. More than a bit, really. Ok, so! I made a guest comic for Jesus and the Man. Also, that new hobby of mine that I started two weeks ago and ended last week of drawing pics for other people was cut short, because I bought some colored inks and suddenly decided to draw for myself. I did get some stuff for a few other people though. A list!
This for KCGreen.
This for Pig Related.
This for Journey Into History.
This for Great Vagueness.
... also, I drew some stuff a long time ago that I forgot about.BUT I REMEMBER THEM NOW:
This for Sarah Zero.
This for Hellbound.
Done and done. Enjoy?

10/01/2005
HEY. So... more dodgeball! Last week, Urara threw a ball at Gomada. This week, Gomada throws a ball at her! What will happen next!? Well, I don't want to give anything away, but let's just say that the dodgeball game will... follow a very predictable course before reaching a stale conclusion. Look forward to it!Also, this comic was reviewed at this blog.He said that it could be good, maybe, if I change some things. The blog itself is pretty interesting, if you're into comics. I've been checking it out occasionally for the past few weeks. Also, my new hobby that began last week and ends this week is drawing stuff for other people, so next week when I'm done I'll totally post them all, totally. Also also, "make them say gyafun" is an actual phrase. Mayo wasn't just being weird. Also also also, enjoy?
|
04/01/2005
Tuesday Morning. I update! Dodgeball season once again, meaning I'll be spending months on pages that will probably take only a few minutes to read once the whole thing is completed. Also! Got some art from chikin. It's a dodgeball, but instead of being thrown at people... it eats them. Yeah. Enjoy?
|
13/12/2004
Once again... the updated comic. Funny thing, for the last few weeks I've been getting tired of drawing this thing. But I sat through drawing these four pages and didn't mind it at all, so I think my brief spell of being bothered by the comic is through, so I'm fine now.Anyways, it's not like those kind of thoughts constantly dance around in my head. OR DO THEY!? Hohoho, that's right, I recycle jokes I make on random message boards here.segue!A bit late, but here's a picture of mayo done by one KCGREEN. Also, nothing really happens in this update!ALSO, I may take the first update after christmas off.ALSO... nothing else, enjoy?
|
06/12/2004
edit(from the 8th):
Ok... updated! My computer is on it's last breath due to my... very excellent treatment of it! But I can get the pages up, so... yeah!=\ enjoy?
from the 6th
No update this week. I don't know when I'll be able to get it up. Basically, my laptop's USB ports are acting up quite a bit and won't read my scanner now.I have to use the crappy touchpad =\ also, touchpads suck. I'm going to try and get it fixed sometime this week and hopefully that'll go well. But I do have something to point you to anyways. And that is, thehotjam, a jam comic I've been participating in with some of the members of Hot Bullet Press, including the creators of Monica Furious, Great Vagueness and Bad Blood, as well as one Sam Moore, who totally doesn't have a comic. So yeah, check that out, and if you're an artist, definitely join up and contribute. The more people the better. Also, enjoy?

15/11/2004
Hahaha. WHAT. New chapter today. If I gave Urara a pointy nose she'd be like a manga character from
the 1960s.As she appears in Mayo's dream, anyways.
Maybe early 70s.
the main point being it'd be from pretty long ago.
Like 40 years ago!
OR MAYBE JUST 30.enjoy?
08/11/2004
heheh. Finally remembered to update this thing.
The forum is up now, so head on over! You can talk about the comic as well as early 20th century Russian avante-garde posters.
25th chapter has ended, and I've also reached the 300th page at the same time. Two milestones in one stroke!
How was it celebrated? Well, let's just say that the ethernet port on my laptop broke today and
so I have to sneak time in on my roommate's to get anything interweb related done. Hurray! Besides that,
there's a splash page in this update. First ever in the comic,I'm pretty sure. Oh yeah, and check out
this website. A collection of writing from
the creator of the "god hates us" story I was hosting. Also, Enjoy?
|
OCTOBER!
I keep forgetting to update this file!!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S AS IF OCTOBER NEVER EXISTED!except for the update from october 4th, which is doing fine.
GAH!!! THE SCREW UPS CONTINUED INTO NOVEMBER!!!!! THIS FILE IS BECOMING OBSOLETE!!!! =\

04/10/2004
New Chapter begins today. A little nod to dokaben here. I was playing the downtown nekketsu baseball game on the super famicom recently and realized that one of the teams was a reference to the Meikun squad in dokaben, so I thought that was super great. Mayo has a twig in her mouth, which you may have seen before if you noticed her cameo appearance Overundertokyo(When will that start updating again?). I drew a picture of her like that some time ago and really liked how it looked. I also consider panel 3 of page two of this update to be my favorite picture of her ever...EVER. Also, I've been painting nonstop for the past two weeks. Here's one image which I've suddenly decided is the only one I like out of the lot of them.Painting is fun. That's about it, enjoy?
|
27/09/2004
ONCE AGAIN THE SCRAMBLE VALKYRIE. It was my birthday last saturday. To celebrate, I bought a plunger. Yeah! About the comic... nothing to say about that actually. There are four more pages. I don't know why I put that scramble valkyrie line up. I suddenly remembered it and have always thought it was funny. Yup. Enjoy?
edit: um... for anyone that reads this news section because of I don't know why, you may notice that this is the only update for September. Why? VERY INTERESTING REASONS THAT YOU WILL NEVER KNOW! YOU READ THIS SECTION AND YET YOU LEARN NOTHING! LAMENT YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES!
|
30/08/2004
Alright, like I said last week, there isn't an update for this week because I'm building up pages for when I'm in school. Last year I was probably missing one or two each month, so I'd like to avoid that. The comic will be updated again next week, however, I can't say when because I don't know when we'll have access to the internet. I'm arriving Sunday night, so I'll certainly miss monday's update since they take your computer for a day to do... stuff...but hopefully I'll be able to have it up by at least Wednesday or something. Well, we'll see, I guess. So! No reason to check the comic out if you've already read everything, but if you haven't read everything yet, then... you know... read it, and enjoy?
|
23/08/2004
I've updated once again. No commentary was added to anything yet. Won't be doing that until I can update at a time other than 3 AM.In this week's update, Mayo and Urara continue their conversation about a fictitous sequel to video game that most of you probably haven't heard of outside of this comic: Puzzle'n Death. Can things get more interesting? I would think that they CANNOT. With that in mind, enjoy?
|
16/08/2004
Pages are up now. So, there ya go. It's late, so I'll add the commentary stuff on the last chapter by next week. Also, you can still look at this short flash cartoon my old roommate made a long while ago that I forgot about. Here it is. It's a sort of redo on the noodle eating scene from a few months ago. It was made in a day because he needed something to do for a project. I'm going to try and harrass him into making a fuller version of it when I get back in school though. It's about 30 seconds long and has a full 4:00 minute or so long song playing in it. Yeah. That's that. Enjoy?
|
09/08/2004
Another late night update. Not fun at all, but after this week I'll be able to work on this comic more often, so it's cool. Passed 250 pages today. Another milestone! Man, I'm just crashing through these things like so many... stones... used to mark... miles... on the road... towards some destination of some sort! To celebrate, I ...well, you know what I did. That's right. I updated the comic. Right now. This update is the 250 page update.Unlike other updates, it is celebratory, so remember that while reading the comic. It's a once in a lifetime deal man, enjoy?
|
02/08/2004
Took way too long to get these pages done. They don't look any better than the usual sort, either. Hope this doesn't become a habit. Anyways, it's 4 AM and I just finished the last page so I'm all tired and such(such=hungry, for those that are curious). Anyways, before I go eat, I guess, I thought that I ought to mention that Trick is one of the best shows ever.I'd ramble about it, but as I said, I'm tired. Maybe next week. Also, I did a guest comic for Oh the Humanity!.. it'll show up on the third, so check it out. That's about it. Enjoy?
|
26/07/2004
Added some brief descriptions to the links so that it's not just a row of banners. Pretty much vague single sentence. I don't like typing them up. =\ Still thinking of how I'd like to redo it... and enough of that. New chapter today! Had no idea what to do for the cover... so I drew Urara's response to Moya's cover for the previous chapter. As for what happens in today's update... it's lunchtime at school. So the kids almost start eating. Oh yeah, I contributed to last week's update of God Hates Us. So check it out. My bit is in the conflict chapter. But read all of the other chapters before you get there, if you haven't already. And, enjoy?
|
19/07/2004
Alright. The links section was redone. Actually... I just got tiny banners and arranged them in rows. =\ Still would like to actually do something to make it look neat... it seems so tiny now. I'll add rollover text or something. I didn't do the extra art section though. It's taking a bit longer. Oh! All of the new links are on the top row, so check them out. Alright, about the comic. Bought some new ink, and the stupid eraser problem I had dissapeared, thankfully. Also got a nib again, and I'll try and draw with that in the future as practice instead of with the brush. Did a few panels of this update with it. Was supposed to be going to the San Diego comic-con this week, but instead I'll be being broke =\ That's... that's almost as fun... as going to a con and wasting money. Ah well, enough of that. Chapter ends today, enjoy?
|
05/07/2004
Haha... I passed out after watching the first episode of Salary Man Kintaro 4. I think that I was SO OVERWHELMED BY IT'S QUALITY that my body simply couldn't take it, and gave out. Not really, but for whatever reason, I Was tired. When I woke up I suddenly remembered this comic, and how I'm supposed to be updating it, so I had to get the inking done on the pages really quickly. I hate drawing when I'm worn out.Kintaro 4 was ok. I don't know how the show will be with Yamato dead... but, Kintaro beat up several people, and took a break to give a stern lecture to someone about how to raise their kids, so I think that things will be alright. Uh, yeah, enough of that nonsense. Back to four pages a week with this update.I plan to update the extra and link sections next week, so look forward to that, I suppose. And enjoy?
|
28/06/2004
Last 12 page update. It was fun playing the weekly chapter game, but I'm going back to 4 pages for the month of July. I'm going to use the time to work on some other projects, and when I finish, I plan on going right back to this comic and hopefully get the entire thing done by the end of summer. I'll also go back to the weekly chapters in August, should everything go as planned. Gah... was a rush to ink these pages.Probably not for the better... ah well. I'm not sure of what I think of the previous chapter, but I really enjoyed this one, so hopefully you all will too. Yeah.Enjoy?
|
21/06/2004
Yeah... tired... nothing to say here. 12 more pages today. Enjoy?
|
14/06/2004
Another sunday update, since I probably won't have time until monday night otherwise. Anyways, a full chapter is up. Focusing entirely on side characters.Oh, I passed 200 pages with this update. To celebrate, I... well, I didn't do anything. But I thought about doing something. And it's the thought that counts. Remember that, and enjoy?
|
07/06/2004
EVERYTHING I SAID ON THIS DAY HAS BEEN LOST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
10/05/2004
A bit late with today's update, but it's still monday...in the westcoast anyways, so that's not too bad right? Finals are coming up so I don't know if I'll manage to keep updates coming in the next few weeks, but hopefully I'll get by. I may miss the next two updates actually, depends on how busy this weekend gets, but I imagine I won't have much free time. Anyways, funny thing happened with this chapter. I planned for it to go one way, and drew a cover, and after doing the first few pages, I realized I'd have to push that bit back one chapter, and so I had to make a new cover, and that pushed the update back a bit. Yeah. Enjoy?
|
03/05/2004
A bit late with today's update, but it's still monday, so that's not too bad right? Finals are coming up so I don't know if I'll manage to keep updates coming in the next few weeks, but hopefully I'll get by. I really need to stop stubbornly sticking to these fixed chapter lengths though. Man, I planned poorly and crammed 17 panels into the last page of this update. Didn't really come out as well as I would have liked. Ah well, in spite of that, enjoy?
|
26/04/2004
I updated early today! I also neglected my homework to update early today! So I'm going to get to it, and you all go see the new pages and enjoy?
|
19/04/2004
No update this week. Sorry. The ads I won just started showing up at buzzcomix too so this is great timing. Ah well. Anyways, I'll only have trouble updating for a month or so and shouldn't miss more than one more week during that time. Anyways, my pals story God Hates Us is now being hosted by me. So, yeah, check it out if you haven't already, and enjoy?
|
12/04/2004
I'm tired. New Chapter starts today-"Comedy Time with Suzie and Dave!"- ought to please the small but wonderful few that have been fortunate enough to experience comedy Suzie and Dave style. Also, last week was my one year anniversary. I celebrated it by telling you about it one sentence ago. That's it. They have lunch in this chapter. Enjoy?
|
05/04/2004
Hey. Chapter ends today. Choku and Hen finally make their reappearance. Um... hmm... nothing much to talk about. I mentioned how much I like naming the chapters in this chapter's commentary thing, and I felt like I had said that before. I didn't check(would it have been in an old update, or in a different chapter), but I can just imagine me repeating myself over and over again by the time the comic ends in the not near at all future. I'll be like that crotchety old man that just keeps repeating the same tired anecdotes over and over again, except I'm rather young, so it will be that much sadder. Well, I do have a few things to mention. God Hates Us, a story a pal of mine is working on has changed location. So, uh, go read it. Also, I'm going to update my links in the near future, and once again I'm saying this not for your benefit so much as it is for me to actually remember to do it. I plan to revamp that section a bit, since it's a bit of a mess with the random sized banners and such. And I suppose I'll make all of the banners black and white or some such. That's it for this week, so, read the new pages and enjoy?

29/03/2004
A bit late with this one. Couldn't get the pages up when I finished everything last night.I said this last week, but it's true for this week as well. Wild. Hope it doesn't become a habit. But, uh, enough of that.My guesting comic for Dinosaur comics didn't appear last week. I believe it's coming this week, but I can't be sure, as weeks are tricky business. Ok. Comic stuffs. Mayo gets a new hairdo, like you see in the cover above. Oh, and she's not giving a peace sign in that cover. It's the number two. They're counting. And I'm counting on you guys to... to do nothing. I just said that because I figured I'd get a laugh out of following up "they're counting" like that, and I did. I've just wasted time with the end of this paragraph, so I'll stop typing. Check out the new pages, and enjoy?
|
|
29/03/2004
A bit late with this one. Couldn't get the pages up when I finished everything last night. But, uh, enough of that. Sorry for taking a few weeks off, but things should hopefully be fine from now. I say hopefully and not definitely because I used my free time of not being able to update to start a new comic and not to make more pages of this one, but I'm still ok for the next few weeks. Anyways, I wrote up a short story for a comic some time ago and it was drawn by Tokyo Cab Driver - the creator of OVERUNDERTOKYO. It's a swell 8 pages long, so go here to check it out. Say, Also, I made a guest comic for Dinosaur comics. It'll be up sometime this week. So... just head over there every day. Besides all of that, I got the GBA rivercity ransom(downtown nekketsu monogatari) update while I wasn't updating as well as acquiring the first 3 seasons of Salaryman Kintaro. Which was great because season 2 was never shown in California.Ok. A new chapter begins today,So, enjoy?
|
|
08/03/2004
No update this week. Sorry. It's finals time, and one of my classes had two assignments due for this week and the first ate up all of my time. I may not be able to update next week either, since I'll be going home and won't have time to get the pages inked. However, I will hopefully have something to show then, so check back. So if you're not here for this week's update, enjoy?
|
|
01/03/2004
Links updated. I added Greentoons and Dinosaur comics like I said I would last week. Also, I added Rules of Make Believe. A fine story-based comic that you ought to check out as well.As well as, you know, every comic in the links page, if you haven't done so already. And that's the end of that business.
Also, I was trolling the boards of Rules of Make Believe, and there was this cool topic there where people would ask the characters questions, and the characters would respond in short comics. I thought it would be kind of a fun thing to do, so if you have any questions you'd like to ask the characters, Send me an email . Anything you want to ask, and the kids will answer in any manner they wish. I'll put them up in the extra section once I get them done,or hold them off for a special week(like when the second day of the comic ends. I made the #1 Jibushi cartoons for when the first day ended); assuming people send emails that is.So send them! And besides that, enjoy?
|
|
23/02/2004
I still need to update the links, but am too tired to suss it out now. Ah well, I was going to link to Greentoons and Dinosaur comics. Greentoons is a collection of comics from one young fellow. Try them out. You'll find one you like.OR WILL YOU? Dinosaur comics is a hilarious strip that uses the same bloody comic template for each strip. No story comics in this update. Kinda weird how it's what I make and usually read but I don't get into many of those online.I'll try and have one of those be the next one. Anyways on to Ribald Youth business. Chapter 3 has been rescanned reuploaded. I started work on chapter 4. The pages are really old. I have to manage creases and stuff along with the inkwash problems I mentioned in the chapter 3 or 4 commentary. Thankfully the latter didn't cause too much trouble and I've made it through all of the danger pages. So I should be finished with all of the old chapters by the end of march. Also, last week I was out of pages, but I drew ten this week. pencilled anyways. So I'm safe for the beginning of march. Hopefully I can keep up that pace, but I seriously doubt it.Ah well, the longer I can keep it up, the better. Oh, and I hit 150 pages with this update. That's like a landmark in pagecount. OR IS IT? It is. Celebrate that in some manner if you'd like.Celebrate whenever I pass any other page total as well. Then each week will be like a party for you. Besides that, enjoy?
|
|
16/02/2004
Tired, so not much to say here. I won that contest I mentioned a while ago. This one. I have some links to add, but I'l probably do that next week. I still don't have the rescanned 3rd chapter up, partly because I'M OUT OF PAGES and have to actually start drawing this comic again. So hopefully I can get enough done in a few weeks to get back on side projects and the like. Hopefully before spring break. That's about it. New chapter starts today, so, enjoy?
|
|
09/02/2004
Hey hey. Didn't have a chance to put up the rescanned chapter 3. Will do it during this week though. That's about it
for now, enjoy?
|
|
02/02/2004
Alright, this week's pages are now up. Chapter 2 has been rescanned and uploaded so check that out if you're curious. I still need to do some editing on it, it seems, but oh well. Ah! I've made it to the semifinals in the Comic strip steel cage deathmatch. I think that's about as far as I'll go though. But check it out. I misunderstood the due date for the last comic -which had a very nice theme this time around- and so I just send it in pencils. Yeah. Ok, that's all I have to say here, so check out the new pages, and enjoy?
|
|
26/01/2004
Ok,Regarding reuploading the first 72 pages, I've scanned the first two chapters(24 pages) and have edited and put up the first chapter, so all of that horrible compression from my early days of saving in MSPaint is gone. I'm hoping to get the rest of the chapters up one week at a time. Except for the problem with the bad ink that has ravaged some of the original pages, I shouldn't have too much of a problem.Ok, so a new chapter today. The dodgeball chapter. It gets kind of repetetive, but I hope it isn't too bad. Also, I'm competing in the "comic strip steel cage deathmatch". I made it past the first round, and the comic I had to work on was a difficult topic for me, but still a lot of fun.You can see it there. Just click on "rezo". I don't like what the second submission has to be though. Not much room for creativity. I was really looking forward to seeing how varied each submission I put in could be, but simply adding a word to a comic I've already done doesn't allow for that. Ah well. So, that's about it. Enjoy?
|
|
19/01/2004
So I looked at the early pages of the comic. Boy, the quality sure is horrible. I'll need to rescan them. Oh, and the "pick your teams for dodgeball" chapter ends now. Next up, the "walk over to the place where you'll play dodgeball" chapter. No, not really. Some of the early pages are kind of damaged from some ink problems which I mentioned in a few of the chapter commentary deals, but I really hope I can rescan them, because the quality sucks. Enjoy?
|
|
12/01/2004
Pages are finally up. Its wednesday morning so thats a bit later than I intended. Last time this happens for the forseeable future. Oh, I added an official link for Random Thoughts and I also found the original drawing of Mayo from several years ago. Also with that came all of the original character descriptions and some other stuff which I'll use to make a special section of the site at some point. Thats about it. Enjoy?
|
|
06/01/2004
GeGe.
So I arrived at school and the internet connection wasn't up yet, so I missed the update. Just by a day though. New chapter today. May be the most uneventful one out of the lot. Also, my short story guest strips "what I made for the secret santa thing" are currently running at The Tao of Geek starting here.So check them maybe and enjoy?
|
|
29/12/2003
Got my secret santa comic from Random Thoughts over the week and I quite enjoyed it. Click on the "recent" button to go to it now. The comic will start updating again next week. Hmm, oh yes, I also added some random stuff to the extra section. Like a video of the second Kodomo no Omocha anime opening. As well as the L-I-V-E@the H-E-B rap my old pal DL sent me years ago with the neat NES-style BGM. 2004 is coming up just around the corner and it starts with a new season of SalaryMan Kintaro as well as the new River City Ransom for the Game Boy Advance. Things are looking excellent so far. So, happy new year if you read this after the 31st. Thats about it, Enjoy?
|
|
22/12/2003
No new pages today. I'll quickly mention that I did a guest comic for the neat Bill the Magician comic some time ago. I was going to mention it last week, but forgot since I had to work on all of those bloody poems before putting the page up. Anyways, Check it out. I did it with my mouse in my old DOS program and tried to edit it to remove the pixelly look. Anyways, I suck at such editing so I screwed up a bit. I had to build every single bit of dialogue using a polygon shaping tool since I couldn't find an appropriate font. That made things much more tedious than they should have been. Also, I participated in the "Web comic secret santa", so I should be recieving a gift - in comic form! - some time this week, and I'll have it up for the next update. What it will be I can't say. Maybe an illustration , maybe a short story, comic strip or something,I don't know. But it'll be something. Its coming from the creator of Random Thoughts which is not a secret because the 21st was the due date for everyone that participated to go public. As for me, I was given The Tao of Geek and I made a week's worth of strips for her. I don't know when they'll be used though. Both that and the Bill the Magician comic are markedly different than what I'm used to doing, so it was interesting.
Anyways, As I mentioned near the end of November, all of the pages I have been putting up were completed around then, and today's batch was the last, but I don't really like the cover for the new chapter, and since they were the last pages I inked in my hurry to get pages done for this break, they're the worst of the bunch, and so I'd really like to go over them before putting them online. I'd like to go over every page I did that night actually, and hopefully I will. But anyways, the comic will begin updating again the first monday of January. I ought to have pages pencilled for three months worth of updates by that time, so hopefully I'll be able to get far ahead enough in the future to have enough pages done for all of summer before I leave school. I'd like to buy a large scanner(for at least 11 x 14 images) for home so if I can manage that then I won't need to kill myself in school getting pages done. I've been splitting time drawing this comic as well as the other one I'm working on that I'm going to try to put up next year after getting 50 or so pages done. This comic really eats up all of my art time so its tough trying to slowly build up the other one which requires much more work to get a page done. I'm also going to try and seriously get into painting once school starts. I'm thinking of one painting every two weeks. Random mediums if I can afford it. I don't know if I'll be able to manage what with the comics and school, but I need to make the comics. I did poorly on a few assignments just because they interfered with getting my comic done. And I need to get better at painting. Its always been too expensive for me to pursue actively. Not being kind to supplies is a big reason for that but I'm going to make a go at it. I'm certain I'll be terribly worn out come May, but, whatever. Yeah. So. . . go check out me guest strip as well as the few comics I mentioned in the first paragraph. All are worth a look, merry christmas should you be reading this on that day, and. . . enjoy?

Hardest. Update. Ever. So since the chapter was a poetry assignment, I decided that it ought to end with the class actually going through the assignment one by one. So for the last four - these four pages - I just drew some kids heads in each panel and left them all blank so that I could fill the panels in with all of their poems. Anyways, turns out there are a decent amount of kids in the class and its not easy to come up with a poem that at least vaguely resembles something a child would write, so I've basically been up the entire night going insane trying to get them all done. I also had to take into account some kids having poor ideas and some having good ones, matching personalities with what they had written and such. Too much of a hassle.
I thought it would be best to do them all just before the update because I'm stupid. Highlights of my insanity include listening to Kabalevski's Gallop while spinning around like an idiot in the middle of the room. After sitting down coming up with poems for a few hours, I thought that the best way to take a break was to spin around. Anyways, I think most of them are ok, except for the very last one, which - due to it being the last one- I rushed and really it doesn't make any sense. But that's just one. Oh yeah, the definition of cynic as Urara uses it isn't with the bitter connotation the term has now. Its mostly about being content with the basics. These sort of cynics, looking at all of the people that could not do that probably thought less of them, and thats why the word is as it is today. Just clarifying that, since the poem could be read a lot differently depending on how you interpret the term. Assuming you can read it. Her's is long and the font size is tiny. A bother. In spite of it all, enjoy?

I've been looking forward to this update for months. You'll probably be confused as to why after reading it though, but that's the way it is. So I mentioned I was supposed to add some links this week, and I am.So here goes:
KRAZY KAT - George Herriman's classic strip from the early 1900s. An old favorite of mine and many others. I was quite happy to find a small archive of strips at this page as finding old strips online is very hard and I've never seen books for them. Also, there's Flux=rad's page of fun stuff. Odd short stick figure strips, it rose from the ashes like the phoenix it is. Then there's elftor. Elftor is funny. Finally , for a comic that actually has a storyline, the frenetic OverUnderTokyo.
And that's that. So check them out maybe, and the update here as well and. . . enjoy?

Chapter 10 starts today. First, a bit of a warning. I'm at home now, so I had to get all of the pages that I was going to put up over break done and scanned before leaving school. I have a few pages into the future(updates til' Feb.) pencilled, but they're pretty much all pencils. So anyways, I inked 16 pages very very quickly. The pages suffer a bit because of it. I also scanned on a smaller scanner, though I think I'm the only one bothered by the borders. Anyways, the comic has really simple art so problems in inking shouldn't do too much damage.
What else? Not much. Need to update links soon and plug some print comics that I've been keeping up with recently, like Azumanga Daioh and Kodocha:Sana's stage. They're both
Very manly comics that are made for men as you can see. Well, I suppose this little mention counts as the plug for those books. Hopefully I'll update the links by next week. I'll probably be lazy and not do it for a few months. Sure Sure. In the meantime, check out this weeks update and enjoy?

Shock! I lost the update text from this week! What did it say? Nothing important I'd wager. Move along.
|
|
17/11/2003
104 pages. That's 4 more than 100 and 217 less than 321. yup. Nothing to say here. enjoy?

10/11/2003
"Let's Get it Together - Ribald Youth"! Now with 100 pages online! I know, the final page in this update says "99", but, see, the very first cover is page "0", so there are actually 100 pages up. And what did I do for this momentous achievement of having an arbitrary number of pages online? An arbitrary number that just happens to be a multiple of ten, which makes it even more special than one of five and not ten? Absolutely nothing. But pretend that I did do something. Whatever it is that you pretend I did, I'm quite certain that I did an excellent job. Because that's what I do, excel. Chapter nine begins with this update. I screwed it up a bit but its not bad.
Oh, I've taken up the practice of making fake photographs of the characters.Maybe if I do enough of them I'll have it added as an "extra" section, but who knows. I think the cover for this chapter that you see above you started me off on it. SO look at them. The watercolor ones were all done very very quickly. Maybe I'll take some time on them in the future. That's all. enjoy?

Ok, I re-uploaded 88-91, but didn't have a chance to edit the text for the FuchiGomada story. Coming up to 100 pages online now. Thats 60 more pages than 40. That's wild innit. Enjoy?

I'm terribly busy right now. Its 7 AM and I just finished an assignment. I left the opening line from last week. Seems I'm busy all the time. Anyways, some things about this update. I scanned 9x12 paper in an 8x11 scanner. So some of the corners are odd. I think I'll be the only person bothered by this, but I am, so I'll probably rescan later this week. Also, there's a new FuchiGomada story, unless you're from TNL and remember the pancakes topic, in which case its an old FuchiGomada story that you can skip over. But that story did teach me that I can't handwrite everything, as it looks rather horrid. I'll try and edit in some computer text sometime this week. Hopefully you all can make it out, as I suspect I won't have it corrected until the next update. What else. .. nothing else, so, enjoy?

13/10/2003
Hi, are you sweet? That was the title of a diary-comic or some such that I used to read several years ago. Maybe if I ever find it I'll put up a link, but I just really like the line. I'm going to steal it for a title of a chapter whenever I get the chance. Anyways, the "morning" chapter has ended. I think I mentioned before that I wanted it to have a different section for each character in the story instead of just 3, but I couldn't as it would eat up too much time. I sort of regret not doing that now though. Maybe I'll go over different characters in the mornings for the rest of the days of the week. Anyways, today's update was pretty tough, due to Gomada's shenanigans. He's supposed to have a gang slogan of some sort written on the back of his coat and it was a pain to write. As I understand it, you're supposed to write using incorrect but phonetically equal characters to say something, so I had to keep revising what I wanted him to say in order to find a set of characters to spell it out with. Then I botched it slightly in the inking since I had to do it in white and there wasn't much area to work with,so my guess is that its nigh illegible now. Most people won't be able to read it themselves, of course, so I'll just pretend that it was done correctly. I'm still bothered by it though. I had the panel uninked for so long, but I couldn't keep it empty forever. Also, his bandanna is translated as "Hotblooded" roughly, if anyone is curious, as a translation is never provided in the story. I yanked that from Kunio-kun, and if you know me, that isn't a surprising thing for me to do in the least.
I put in chapter 5 last week for those that may not have noticed, so go to the archives if you want to check it out.Ok, that's that; enjoy?
|
|
06/10/2003
Alright, I added the "missing" fifth chapter to the archives. So head over there now. I didn't like it after I made it, but maybe you will? I'd still like to redraw it though. Urara's morning is up in this update. I like the way she looks in the morning. That's all. Enjoy?

30/09/2003
The comic is back now! Play some fanfare or something.Long story short, the computer lab is far away and I have to use it to scan the 9x12 slightly larger than my roommate's scanner can handle sheets of paper. Since it takes so long to get out there I couldn't fit the time in to scan the comic. That's all, but I think I can manage now, so there's four all new pages. I'm also going to put up chapter 5, which I had been refusing to do previously, next week.Hopefully, anyways, I have to work with it quite a bit. That's all. Should time not allow me to update properly, I'll try and just put all of the pages up at once and be done with it. One more thing before I end this bit. I've decided to try my hand-lettering instead of editing them all on the PC since I don't have much time to do so consistently. I'm not very good at thte lettering as you'll see, but hopefully it isn't too bad. If it is, well, I suppose I'll have to go back and fix it all at some point. Yup. So, with this update the second day in the tale of Ribald Youth begins. Enjoy?

27/08/2003
yo. 27th of August now. Should nothing odd happen, I'll be off to school in two weeks time.It starts on the 13th of September, so I hope to have the pages scanned around that time to resume updating. Probably on the week that starts after me birthday, just to keep the monday updates going. I won't have my own computer there though, so who knows when I'll actually be able to work on the site. That's about it. Hmm...well, I've also started work on another comic that I'm going to put up sometime next year. Perhaps around summer. Here's some concept art. Those are from 2001. If you've seen any of my art before on a message board or some such, chances are you've seen those, as I don't really have too many illustrations to post, so don't bother looking at it! The art style demands much for time to be spent on a single page. Around 15-20 hours just for pencils(So I won't be inking). So I'm creating the comic as a series of vignettes, connected on a macro scale, but designed as stand-alone shorts. This way, I can finish 15 pages and fell like I've accomplished something. If I had chosen to approach as I do Ribald Youth, I'd spend two months on 15 pages and piss myself off after realizing I've spent two months on a comic and the story hasn't even started yet. =\
I've had the characters wandering around in my head for some time before that and finally decided to go ahead and draw it now, what with the batch of pages for this comic having been completed, and I realized I have 100+ pages of quality comic paper that I haven't put to any use, so I figured I might as well.(Ribald Youth uses 80lb paper. Kind of cheap, but it picks up the ink differently, so I'm sticking with it to maintain some consistency in the style. On the good paper, black ink actually comes out black.) The setting is similar to Ribald Youth, as in the main characters are all ribald youth(I don't create other kinds of characters =\ ), but they're all older, the main character is girl that drinks too much(as well as smokes as you can see from the concept art), similar to Mayo. Mayo is kind of based on her actually, though not nearly as melancholy. Also any attempts at humor will be rare. Well, alright, I'll stop rambling now. So long~

14/06/2003
Alright. Finally got the last video done, but it didn't want to upload, leading me to repeatedly trying to put it up only to see it conk out when it was 99% done. Hilarious! Anyways, here:
Number One Jibushi Final
plus, here are links to the first two parts of the cartoon:
Part 1 and Part 2
No update on the comic today, or for the rest of summer, as I mentioned earlier. I'll be putting them back up sometime in september. So if you still remember the comic at that time, I suppose I'll see you then. In the meantime, have a fun.

Saturday Update
yo. have been terribly busy, and haven't been able to finish the last bit of the cartoon. I will try to get it up this afternoon. Also, the site won't be updating for the rest of summer after I put it up. I don't think I'll be able to manage it, so I'm, going to try and build up as much as I can until September.
Now I go to sleep.
WEDNESDAY'S UPDATE
Its 7.9 MBs! If I ever do something like this in the future, you can be sure that I won't give it a 640x400 resolution =\ Ah, yeah, no character section tomorrow. I would have been too similar to the results for the quiz. So I figure I'll come up with something more creative at a later date, or some such.
TUESDAY'S UPDATE
afternoon update:
character quiz is up
Thanks to "skoolmunkee", what created The Repository of Dangerous Things. I pretty much just took the code she had for the quiz and changed the questions. yup yup. She has a cool comic too, so read it.
Ok. I fixed up the cartoon somewhat.
- Its an avi file now. If you had problems with the animated gif, then this should work fine, if you're using windows anyways. Getting the file to be an avi took an absurd amount of time(because I did a mess of stuff that didn't work out), so I couldn't put the finishing touches on the quiz(or work on the other parts of hte cartoon). However, I will try to get the quiz up today, as I said I would, as well as the cartoon up on wednesday. Hopefully I'll be able to manage. That's it.I'm going to be worn out after this week is up. Well, I am already. =\
MONDAY'S UPDATE
Geh Geh. Hey. Ok, so I was working on the animation, when I suddenly got a different idea for it near the end of the week and started over. I worked over the weekend, but couldn't complete it. So I decided to break it into three parts. I finished the first(not much happens, but some of it looks neat). . .and the file came out to be 10 MB. This is what happens when you make a 700 frame 640x480 animated gif. There's very little actual animation in those 700 frames, but still. Anyways, here's the link to part one of the cartoon
Its 4+ MB zipped. A bit more reasonable for downloading. I imagine people thought I was going to make a flash cartoon when I mentioned doing one. Ah well. Anyways I'm certain the size of the file is as such because all of the gifs are 8-bit images. I'm going to search today for something to reduce them. My art programs aren't capable. In anycase, since the files are large and the cartoons are short, I don't think too many people will be downloading them, but I'll still put them all up. Here's the schedule for the week
No comic pages this week. Re-read the archives! Tell your friends to check it out, and then chat about its neatness or somesuch.
Mon: First part of the cartoon is up. I'll have a more official section of the site for them once I get things cleared up.
Tue: Which character are you quiz. Never mind that most of the people in the comic have barely been introduced.
Wedn: Part two of the cartoon will be put up.
Thur: Character section
Fri: Third and final part of the cartoon will be put up.
That's it for this week. In between all of that, I need to start inking the 24 pages I have sitting around so that I can actually start updating the comic again next week. Have some links to add. Suppose I'll do that during the week.Ah well, that's how it is. So, enjoy?

30/06/2003
Part 6 and the first day of the comic end today. 72 pages all told(I'm still stubbornly including the edited out part 5). I hope it was interesting anyways. The rest of the days in the comic will likely be a bit longer than the first if what I've done so far on day two is any indication. Anyways, to commemorate the completion of the first day, I'm planning a special update for next week. I'm working on a short cartoon that I'll hopefully have finished in time, as well as a few other things: Character section, one of those which character are you quizzes, and whatever else I can manage. Illustrations and such. However, there will be no comic update next week. I only have pencils of the next sections(24 pages done so far) and because I'll be working on the cartoon, I won't have time to ink them, and even then, I have to "go down to the Kinkos and throw down some scrilla' " to scan the pages. I'm thinking of spreading all of the updates over the week, but everything will be certain by next monday, so we'll see then. That's it, enjoy?
|
|
23/06/2003
Hey. Nothing much to say in this update either. So, I'll be saying nothing. Until next week. Enjoy?
|
|
16/06/2003
Part 6 starts today. This update features Mayo getting home and doing some walking. That's it. God Hates US is back online, so head to the links section and check it out. Nothing else, so I'll stop typing, enjoy?
|
|
09/06/2003
End of part 4. So how are things so far? Perhaps my favorite character makes an appearance in this comic. I've decided that the next section of the comic will be skipped, but I don't want to remove it from the actual story, so next week will be the start of part 6. I don't know how I'll handle part 5 missing. Nothing significant happens there. Mayo goes to play a UFO catcher game. That is all. Oh yeah, I didn't put up the famicom commercials. Also, the first day of the comic is going to end soon. That's 1/6 of the entire comic being done effectively. I'm planning a special "fun week" for when that happens. Fun Week being the title of this thing when it was still going to be a video game, so I thought it was fitting. Not sure what to put in it. Have been thinking about making some animated shorts, character section, quizzes or something. I dunno. I want to put up one thing for each day of the week, but can't come up with 7 things, so who knows what will happen. I have 3 weeks to work it out. That's it. enjoy?
|
|
02/06/2003
Geh, I came to update the news today and noticed I put the first as the update date. But today is the second! Ah well, 4 more pages, I'm adding two famicom commercials next week, and I have nothing else to say beyond that. Ah, wait. I lost the hard copy of this comic! that sucks. I need to flip through it in case I want to mention anything about the particular update I'm working on. Oh well. I think they finish eating lunch in this update. The excitement never stops! enjoy?
|
|
26/05/2003
Part 4 starts today, so 3 pages, plus a cover in the archives that you can see above. Bad english is intentional. Check this comic out. Crosswired. super sweet. Requires shockwave and a small download, but once its down there is no loaded for individual pages of the comic. Its definitely worth the wait if you're on dial-up. Hmm, nothing else to report. I'm buying art supplies tomorrow and I'll be getting back to drawing the comic then, though I have enough of it done to last to the middle of summer. I read that the Naruto artist does 19 pages a week? Man, and I'm putting up four. I'm going to see how fast I can do them, and if I can get a lot done in a short time, I'll boost the amount of pages per week. That's it, enjoy?
|
|
19/05/2003
Part 3 finishes with this update. Mayo heads off for lunch after school with some yankees. Well, those two fellows you see in the picture on this page. For the game, she was supposed to meet them, and through a series of "wacky" events, end up as their leader. But, this isn't a game, and I couldn't have something like that happen with this comic like that. Why would these guys seriously let a child lead their gang? The reason I came up with originally was just a joke reason. Similar to the other scenario in the game where she was going to bump into two guys and end up helping them rob a bank. Those fellows won't be showing up in this comic though. However, anyone that knows me knows that there was no way I could leave the yankees out of the comic. Ah! "Yankee" is somewhat synonomous with delinquent youth in japan, for those that don't know. More to it, but I won't get into that. hmm... oh yeah, check out this comic. It is a good comic. enjoy?
|
|
12/05/2003
Woo! Mayo's adventures at school end with this update. Don't have much to say here this week. So I won't say much. You know, or anything at all even. I'm sure I'll have a lot to talk about with the next update though. Yeah, so enjoy?
|
|
05/05/2003
Monday. Part 3 starts today. Thats important some how. I really like the image for this chapters cover. Puts me in a good mood. Anyways, I said last week that I was going to put up some comic related content in the extra section, yet I have not. However, I did add an enjoyable Sound bite. A recording of Billy Saluga's classic Raymond J Johnson Jr character. Who is Raymond J Johnson Jr, exactly? Well, you can call him Ray, or you can call him Jay, or you can call him Johnny, or you can call him. . . well, lets just say that you mustn't ever call him Mr. Johnson. You may remember him from his few appearances on the Simpsons. If the legends are true, he repeated this SAME JOKE(someone calls him Mr. Johnson; he gives them the list of correct names to call him) over and over again throughout the 70s, most notably on Redd Foxx's short lived variety show. I get a laugh thinking about that. Hmm. . .thats it. Wait, a new chapter starts today, so you only get 3 comic pages, plus the cover you see above. Also, there was a rather stupid mistake on my part regarding page 12. I never updated it to point to page 13 until a few days ago(even though the comic is up to page 28 now), so if you happen to have read up to page 12 and stopped there, continue from the archives instead of reading the most recent pages. ok! enjoy?

28/04/2003
Its monday, I'm updating. I also have a bit of work to do as soon as I finish this post so I won't be saying much. This is the end of part 2. I think its the best four pages of part 2, if thats worth anything. I'll be updating the extra section with content actually related to the comic sometime this week, perhaps thursday, if not then, then I suppose it'll be up with the next update. That is all. No. . . I was linked by another site, and after some sleuthing I found out that it was from
Frozen Flux. Why would I need to do some sleuthing? Strange reasons that will shock your mind I'm sure. Also, a link is pending apparently(edit: apparently not!!! DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUN! -22/03/2004) at Kota's world. I bumped into the fellow at the fine burdgeoning comixpedia boards. Check out that site if you have the time, as well as the afforementioned comics . Ok. That really is it. so, enjoy?
| |
|
21/04/2003 Its monday. I'm updating. Up to page 20 now. There's a 2 page short bit involving a robot that starts off here. See, if I had been planning this comic as a web thing from the get go, I would have condensed it all into one page, but whatever. That's why I do 4 pages per update maybe. I love super robots. I love the corny way they scream out their special move names, and so too does my melancholy child smoking girl mayo. Anyways, this bit is where the title for part 2 comes from, on the off hand anyone was confused by it. I didn't give titles to most of the chapters while working on them, and I hav a bit of trouble coming up with them.
aha! Also, I've added a new video to the "extra" section. Similar to the other video I put up in that they're from the same show, and. . . "odd". I was looking for a video of this ever since I first saw it on TV, and in a random conversation on irc, I mentioned what it was, and the fellow knew exactly what I was talking about. Apparently it had been floating around the internet as a trendy thing for a while, but I surely didn't know about it, so, thanks Ender! And while I'm thanking people, I'll mention chikin from articide for giving me my first link on any site, ever. Check out his comic, the second section in particular. I think I'll link back to it. . . IN JUNE.its on the hiatus now.(edit: Now... and apparently forever! 22/03/2004)
That looks like all I have for this update. I'll be spending this week doing battle on ebay. Some fellow decided to put up lots of series that I've been meaning to collect, and he put them all up at once, in lots so I can't pick and choose the games I'm missing, so I'm going to have to do battle and unfortunately not get everything I would like. Maybe I'll sell some things quick like or harrass people for quik ebay cash. Probably not. I'm not going to mention what the games are, but if you know me, you could probably guess in a matter of seconds x_X. Ah well, anyways, enjoy the comic, and check back next week for the end of part 2.

Its monday. I'm updating. 4 pages: 1 cover, for part 2, and 3 comic
pages. The cover image for whatever chapter I'm on is shown on the index page above, so if you click recent, you'll go straight to the first comic page for part 2, but if you go through the archives, you'll end up passing through the cover for part 2 before getting to the comic. Yeah. There were a few stupid problems I had to clear up from launching(page 4 wasn't loaded entirely, the recent link wasn't loaded until a few days after starting), but that's been cleared up and hopefully there won't be anymore problems. That's it! Be sure to check back next monday for the next update! enjoy?

ok, first update. This is my comic, its about a young girl and her friends and their general goings about. Comic reads from right to left. There will be a four page update every monday,. . .and . . . that looks to be it.See the design? I wanted it to look like a comic book, so every page will be black & white. I did a bad job, but eh. So, enjoy?
